Victoria R. Sturgeon

Victoria (Vickie), Sturgeon, 78, of Topeka passed away on September 8, 2026. 

She was born September 22, 1947, in Great Bend, Kansas the daughter of Raymond and Lilly (Boxberger) Funk. She attended high school at Hoisington and graduated in 1965. Later Victoria attended and graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1970 with a degree in General Sciences and her diploma in nursing. She lived at Galatia, Kansas before moving to Topeka area in 1970. She was a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital for 16 years. She also worked at Stormont Vail for 22 years as an educator.

Vickie was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and also attended Meriden United Methodist Church. 

She was married to Jimmy Sturgeon on March 1, 1970, in Topeka. He preceded her in death in 2023.

Survivors include her children Jerra R. Sturgeon of Topeka and Matthew C. Sturgeon (Sherri) of Meriden, Kansas; sister Connie Dirreen (Bill) of Hoisington, Kansas; grandchildren, Haley Hart (Robby), Tyler Hart (Kourtney), Blake Bowden (Amber), Lindsey Box (Jacob), Brinnly Sturgeon (Devan), Zayne Sturgeon (Jay) and Robert Folger; and great grandchildren: Jaxyn, Paxtyn, Layna, Mason and Colton.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond, Lillian and her brother Clark.  

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday evening, September 14th at Calvary Lutheran Church 4211 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, Ks 66617. Formal Lutheran Memorial services will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church also at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
