Victoria A. Knapp

Victoria A. Knapp, 75, of Hoyt, Kansas, passed away on April 24, 2025. She was born February 20, 1950, to Victor Leroy and Beverly Ann (Smith) Durr, in Dodge City, Kansas, where she grew up, graduated high school and went on to marry Philip D. Knapp on July 3, 1967. They moved to Lawrence where Philip studied for his degree at KU. Following her husband’s career, they moved frequently as he climbed the ladder to the top of his profession with the state of Kansas.

Victoria was a happy stay at home mother until her girls were of school age. She then went back to VoTech, to earn her degree. She later worked for the Department of SRS in Child Support Enforcement for 25 years.

She was an active member in DAR, for 50+ years. Having joined at a young age, she became one of the longest continuous members. In her retirement, she would volunteer at the food pantry in North Topeka and she was an avid chicken farmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Philip in 2014.   Victoria and Philip were childhood sweethearts and Philip left this poem for her after his death.

Ascension

While you’re still here…

Know that I live on,

Vibrating to a different measure,

Behind a thin veil you cannot see through.

You will not see me,

So you must have faith,

I wait for the time when we can soar together again,

Both aware of each other.

Until then, live life to it’s fullest

Victoria is survived by her children, Cymantha Colby of Concordia, Kansas, Dawn D. Knapp of Montgomery, Alabama and Mitzi A. Knapp of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
