Vicki Lynn Schaefer

Vicki Lynn Schaefer, 74, of Topeka, passed away on March 15, 2022, at her home.

She was born on April 5, 1951, to William and Rena (Page) Peden in Atchison, Kansas. She graduated from Hoyt High School in 1969.

On August 8, 1974, she married Michael Schaefer in Hoyt, Kansas.

Vicki spent much of her adult life raising her children. Later she worked various jobs, driving a school bus at USD 321, finishing cabinets at Custom Woods Products, and later working as a CNA.

Vicki loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed gardening, watching movies, following the Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas Jayhawks. She loved genealogy above everything else.

Vicki is survived by her children, Jessica (Patrick) Wiech, Robert (Susan) Schaefer, Jaime Cowan, and Kelly (Robert) Abbey; her brother Charles "Chuck" VanHoutan, Schaefer, 14 Grandchildren, 4 Great-grandchildren; various nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Schaefer; father, William Peden; mother Rena Curley, brothers, Bill Peden, Rick Peden, Daryl VanHoutan, and Tom VanHoutan; step father, Bob Curley.

No memorial service is planned at this time, but a family celebration will be held at a later date.
