Velma Mae Woodcock

Velma Mae Woodcock, age 90, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022 at her home in Topeka. Velma was born March 16, 1932 in Topeka the daughter of Ira and Martha (Bryant) Burkhart.  She married Herman “Woody” Woodcock June 10, 1949 in Topeka.  He preceded her in death April 30, 2001.

Velma is a member of the Northern Hills Baptist Church in Topeka.  She is survived by three sons, David (Janice) Woodcock, Michael (Brenda) Woodcock and Aaron (Patti) Woodcock; a sister, Ruth Price; two grandchildren, Amy Woodcock and Jamie Woodcock; three great grandchildren, Alexander Long, Trenten Long and Cailan Hodeson; and one great-great granddaughter, Aaliyah Long.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Burkhart and a sister, Rose Hill.

Velma enjoyed reading, cooking, crocheting and going to her grandson’s sporting events.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  She will lie in state Wednesday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.  Interment will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to any church of the donor’s choice. www.davidsonfuneral.com
