Terri Murphy

June 4, 1977 — July 9, 2025

Topeka

Terri Murphy, a vibrant spirit born on June 4, 1977, in Topeka, Kansas, transcended this world on July 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven with laughter, love, and warmth. Known for her feisty personality and the biggest heart amongst her friends, Terri's life was an exuberant celebration of moments both grand and small.

For over two decades, Terri dedicated herself to serving at Presbyterian Manor, holding varied roles throughout her tenure. Her professional journey later led her to the State of Kansas Department of Labor, where she continued to embody the essence of compassion and hard work. Yet, her career was just a mere aspect of who she was; it was her connections, her friendships, that truly defined her.

With a wild child spirit, Terri possessed an adventurous nature, often seeking thrills alongside her close-knit group of friends. From kayaking trips that splashed joy into her life to the celebrations during the 4th of July, her zest for life was infectious. She painted the sky in vibrant hues, attending events that celebrated the achievements of her friends' children, always their number one supporter in the stands.

Memories of her adventures shimmer like stars in the night sky. From the electrifying atmosphere of a Kansas City Chiefs game where she cheered on the legendary Kelce brothers, to the unforgettable night spent near the stage at a PINK concert, Terri embraced every moment with fervor. Each memory created a tapestry rich with laughter, camaraderie, and unwavering loyalty.

Family held a sacred space in Terri’s heart. She was a devoted mother to her beloved son, Tanner Murphy, who was her pride and joy. Joyce Schindler, her cherished mother, and her brother, Travis Marts, were her unwavering pillars, joining her in the intricate dance of family life. Among her treasured friends were Selena (Joseph) Igercic, Melissa Gallaway, and Whitney (Aaron) Broxterman, all of whom knew they could count on Terri to be there, always ready to lend support, share a laugh, or embark on a new adventure.

Terri’s love extended to her four-legged companions, each one capturing a piece of her heart. Her dogs—Charlie, Ollie, and Bohdi—and her cat, Mabel, were her cherished confidants during quiet moments, loyal friends who reflected her boundless capacity for love.

Though bereaved by the loss of her maternal grandmother, Lena Murphy, Terri’s vibrant essence lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, forever reminding them of the beauty of living fully and loving deeply. Her presence will be missed, yet the echoes of her laughter and the warmth of her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Her Life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Parker-Price & Davidson, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608. The family will greet friends an hour prior to service. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka, KS.
