Rose Mary Herring, 82, of Meriden, Kansas passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at Heritage Gardens in Oskaloosa. She was born February 12, 1944 in Winchester the daughter of Theodore Francis and Kathryn Josephine Brose Wistuba. Rose was a 1962 graduate of Winchester High School.
She was married to Glen E. Herring on May 11, 1963 in Easton.
Rose worked in family businesses at the Hitching Post and an apple orchard southwest of Atchison. Rose worked as the cook at the nursing home in Valley Falls. Later Rose worked in food service at Meriden before becoming Food Service Director for USD 340. She worked there from January of 1990 until retiring in 2012.
Rose and Glen were members of St. Aloysius Parrish in Meriden.
Survivors include her husband Glen E. Herring, Sr. of Meriden; three sons, David Herring of Meriden, Glen Herring, Jr. (Michele) of Meriden, Kansas Christopher Herring (Sande) of Havre, Montana; two daughters, Janet Story (Darrell Sunwall) in Utah and Mary Jo Herring in California; one brother, Larry Wistuba of Winchester, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Erika Perry, Logan Herring, Samantha Fate, Shannon Passon, Luke Herring, Cole Herring, Nathan Herring, Jacob Herring and Heather Herring. 10 great-grandchildren, Collin, Lincoln and Rozlyn Perry, Ava and Arianna Fate, Mira and Millie Herring, Sawyer, James and Elsie Herring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ted Wistuba and a sister Anna Kneen.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Parker-Price and Davidson Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, May 11, 2026, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden. Interment will be held in the Corpus-Christi Cemetery at Mooney Creek at 1:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the F.W. Huston Medical Center, 408 Delaware Street, Winchester, Kansas 66097.
