Robert "Bob" Kinnear Tidwell, a lifelong member of the Topeka community, passed away on January 29, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on January 11, 1939, in Topeka, Kansas, Bob lived a full life characterized by hard work, passion, and indomitable spirit that was apparent to those around him.
Bob was not only a dedicated business owner in the auto sales industry but also a champion skeet shooter who enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm for hunting—whether it was birds or prairie dogs—with family and friends. He proudly instilled a strong work ethic in his children, teaching them valuable skills such as reloading ammunition and a way to spend quality time with his children. Bob's love for cars, sports, and the great outdoors made him a true "man's man," often captivating others with his engaging hunting stories and discussions about his favorite teams, notably the Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals.
A proud graduate of Topeka High School in 1958, Bob's journey continued to flourish as he married the love of his life, Glenda Tilton, on August 23, 1959, also in Topeka. Together, they raised a family that brought him much joy. Bob is survived by his wife, Glenda Tidwell; his children Michael Tidwell, Roberta K. Tidwell, Russell (Beth) Tidwell, and Jean M. (Scott) Powell; and his grandchildren: Ted Tidwell, Linsey Kueser, Joshua Deuink, Jarrett Deuink, Ian Tidwell, Aaron Tidwell, Samantha Powell, Christopher Powell, Crystal Golightley, and Alisha Kowalski. Additionally, he was loved by 13 great-grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his grandson Steven Powell, granddaughter Tama Tidwell, and his loving parents, Leon Tidwell and Edith (Kinnear) Tidwell.
Cremation is planned. A celebration of his life will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Goodyear Shelter House 2501 NW Old Indianola Road, Topeka, KS 66618.
