Rita M. Zeferjahn, 87, of Topeka passed away on New Years Day, January 1, 2019 at Lexington Park in Topeka. She was born July 12, 1931 in Topeka the daughter of Harry and Etta (Ward) Clay. Rita graduated from Topeka High School. Rita knew shorthand and it helped her land a job at Pelletier’s Department Store. She was primarily a stay-at-home mom but her knowledge of all kinds of fabrics got her jobs at fabric stores and department stores like Alco in North Topeka. She also worked at Food 4 Less in North Topeka. She bowled in a league at Gage Bowl North. Rita loved to play bingo, watch the Price is Right and two of her dogs, Tina the poodle and Mitzy the mixed bred Pug. But her favorite hobby was sewing and crochet.
She was married on April 4, 1953 to Kenneth “Tip” Zeferjahn at Topeka. “Tip” passed away in 2002.
Rita was preceded in death by her daughter Joleen Zeferjahn in 1966.
Survivors include her children, Cindy, Lori Zeferjahn and Jim Zeferjahn (Tami) of Topeka; grandchildren, Darren, Melanie, Amber, Lisa, Logan, Shelby and Brooke; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, January 6 th from 1:00-2:30 pm. Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 7, 2018 at Rochester Cemetery.
