Richard Calhoon
Richard L. Calhoon, 61, Topeka, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at a Topeka hospital.
He was born July 31, 1941, in Topeka, to Dale Leroy and Ellen "Louise" Long Calhoon. He graduated from Highland Park High School. He served in the Navy for 21 years before he retired in 1979. He was a cook for The University of Kansas Child Development in Lawrence.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve, Topeka Bowhunters Club and Topeka Jayhawk Club.
He married Kathleen "Kay" Saylor in Lawrence. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Brian Calhoon, Topeka, and Gregg Calhoon, Annapolis, Md.; two brothers, Charles E. Calhoon, Berryton, and Michael D. Calhoon, Holton; a sister, Joyce A. Pierson, Topeka; and a granddaughter.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Inurnment will be private.
