Ralph E. "R.E." Henley, 84, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021.
R.E. was born November 29, 1936, in Burlington, Kansas, the son of Jesse and Leota (Niver) Henley.
He graduated from Strawn High School in 1954. R.E. served in the United States Army until 1962, when he was honorably discharged.
R.E. married Roberta Pauline Henley (Tabbert Doty) on November 8, 1963 in Topeka, Kansas.
R.E. spent his career in the bearing and power transmission industry, working for Industrial Bearing and Transmission Company and Associated Bearings Company until retiring in 2008.
He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. R.E. enjoyed sports, following the KU Jayhawks and Washburn Ichabods, gardening and feeding birds in his backyard. He loved his family and took great pride in his grandchildren, attending all of their activities. Following retirement, R.E. devoted his life to caring for his wife.
R.E. is survived by his children, Kim Doty, Kasey (Janelle) Henley, Krystal (Kevin) Burenheide; grandchildren, Madison and Kaden Henley, Klaire and Kaleb Sarver, and Brianna, Cole and Austin Burenheide; sister, Doris Williams and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister, Vienna Chaplin.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, 11:00 am at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas.
