Phyllis O. McMahon

Phyllis Oliver McMahon, 100, Overland Park, Ks died Friday, May 29, 2026. Phyllis turned 100 on March 29, 2026.

Phyllis grew up on the farm in Culver, KS during the depression. She was valedictorian of her class and continued to Kansas University to get her degree in Physical Therapy. When She retired, she was the oldest practicing Physical Therapist in Kansas, due to her love for helping others. She was raised in the church and was a strong Christian her entire life and taught Sunday School at First Christian Church until she was 93. Phyllis sang in the choir.

She also served as a Deacon and Elder at Potwin Presbyterian Church. She loved to read and study the bible. She later volunteered at Stormont-Vail Hospital for several years.

Her life was very simple built around her love for Christ, serving, her family and taking care of people.

Phyllis married Tom McMahon in 1950 in Lawrence, KS and was married for 72 years. They moved to Topeka shortly after getting married. They raised four sons, John Gregory, Timothy, Samuel and Paul.

Phyllis is survived by John Gregory (Mindy), New Hampshire, Samuel, Overland Park, Paul (Kim) Overland Park and Janis McMahon, Kansas City, KS., 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by Tom McMahon (husband) and Timothy McMahon (son).

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street Topeka, KS 66604. Burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
