Paul “P.J.” James Flower, 51, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away September 4, 2017 at Stormont Vail. He was born in Topeka on October 19, 1965 to Robert Flower and Jacqueline Cobb Flower. He went to Topeka High and graduated in 1984. P.J. met Shelly Wray through family friends and later married December 19, 1992. Together they had one daughter.
P.J. worked at Schmidtlein Excavation as a truck driver for many years. He also worked at Herrman’s Excavation for 24 years. P.J. loved to race cars and was the holder of 2 track championships at Thunder Hill Speedway. He was involved in racing for 14 years. He also attended Lighthouse Bible Church with his wife and was a member of Teamsters Union 696. He loved racing, having his alone time while mowing, but most importantly, his two grandchildren.
P.J. is preceded in death by both of his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife Shelly, his daughter Shelby (Dustin) Eakes of Topeka; five brothers, Earl (Sandy) Flower of Ozwakie, Carl Flower of Topeka, Robert (Mona) Flower of Topeka, Frank (Jodi) Flower of Topeka, and Russell (Katie) Flower of Topeka; and two grandchildren, Karsyn and Mason Eakes; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Friday, September 8, 2017 at Davidson Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made out to Davidson Funeral Home to go towards his two grandchildren, and sent in care of the funeral home.
