Pamela Sue Thompson

Pamela Sue Thompson, 70, of Topeka, passed away surrounded by her family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

She was born November 6, 1955, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of John A. and Marjorie B. (Jeffries) Kurtz. She graduated from Perry Lecompton High School, then attended Washburn University School of Nursing. She graduated with her Associates in Nursing, and was a nurse at KNI for over 20 years. Pamela loved all of her clients at KNI. While employed there, she received many awards for her performance.

Survivors include her children Gary Brooks, Topeka, Kansas; daughters Christina Allen, Topeka, Kansas; Angela Casto, Manhattan, Kansas; Nichole Isley, Lawrence, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; brothers George Kurtz, Meriden, Kansas; Michael Kurtz, Lecompton, Kansas; and Tim Kurtz, Grantville, Kansas; and her four-legged baby Chompers.

Her brother, John Kurtz of Lawrence, Kansas, passed four days after her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Russell Hamlin, sister Deborah Reed, and great-granddaughter Angelina Brooks.

Pamela loved everything about the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. Family always came first to her. She loved all of her great-grandbabies, especially taking care of Kayleigh and Rayleigh. Pamela also loved spending some time at the casino. Traveling was another one of her passions, taking trips to Texas, Colorado, and Branson; especially Rockaway Beach. ;) Pamela was a very loving person with a big heart, and she will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

Her family will greet friends and relatives from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Parker Price and Davidson Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 11, 2026 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Nichole Isley to help with funeral expenses and mailed to the funeral home.
