Pamela Sue Thompson

Pamela Sue Thompson, 70, of Topeka, passed away surrounded by her family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

She was born November 6, 1955, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of John A. and Marjorie B. (Jeffries) Kurtz. She graduated from Perry Lecompton High School, then attended Washburn University School of Nursing. She graduated with her Associates in Nursing, and was a nurse at KNI for over 20 years. Pamela loved all of her clients at KNI. While employed there, she received many awards for her performance.

Survivors include her children Gary Brooks, Topeka, Kansas; daughters Christina Allen, Topeka, Kansas; Angela Casto, Manhattan, Kansas; Nichole Isley, Lawrence, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; brothers John Kurtz, Lawrence, Kansas; George Kurtz, Meriden, Kansas; Michael Kurtz, Lecompton, Kansas; and Tim Kurtz, Grantville, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Russell Hamlin, sister Deborah Reed, and great-granddaughter Angelina Brooks.

Pamela loved everything about the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. Family always came first to her. She loved all of her great-grandbabies, especially taking care of Kayleigh and Rayleigh. Pamela also loved spending some time at the casino. Traveling was another one of her passions, taking trips to Texas, Colorado, and Branson; especially Rockaway Beach. ;) Pamela was a very loving person with a big heart, and she will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

A Funeral Ceremony will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at the Parker-Price & Davidson Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 N.W. Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will follow the service at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry, Kansas. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Parker-Price & Davidson.
