Nelson Spaulding

Nelson S. Spaulding, age 99, of Topeka, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Kelly House in Meriden of Covid 19.   Nelson was born October 26, 1921 in Topeka the son of Harry and Anna (Levett) Spaulding.  Nelson served in the U.S. Army from 1942 – 1945 and was stationed in the European Theatre.  He held the American Defense and ETO Ribbon with 2 Battle Stars and Good Conduct and Victory Medals.  Nelson worked for over 20 years for Ed Marling’s Fine Furniture in Topeka.  He married Fern D. Henderson on November 9, 1946.  She preceded him in death August 13, 2015 after 68 years of marriage.  He was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church and the VFW for over 50 years.  Nelson was preceded in death by a son, Nelson LeRoy in 2006.  He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Harris; a daughter-in-law, Linda Spaulding; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.  He will lie in state Tuesday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Shelter or Midland Hospice Care and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.  davidsonfuneral.com.
