Michael Stephen “Steve” Lucas, 82, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
He was born on April 1, 1943 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Francis and Irena (King) Lucas, Jr. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School. Steve was a Lithographer for several companies in Kansas City and Wichita and retired in 2005.
He was a member of the Graphic Communications International Union and served as an officer for several years.
Steve married Anna Mae McCarter on June 25, 1966 in Topeka, Kansas and she survives. Other survivors include his son Mike (Terry) Lucas of Topeka, daughter Angela (Kenny) Kelly of Wichita, four grandchildren Terecia, Monica, Corbin and Brendan, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters Judith (George) Bauer, Mary Lucas, Martha (Jim) Springer and one brother Mark Lucas. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Steve enjoyed leatherworking, woodworking, bowling and scouting serving as the Scoutmaster for Troop 806 in Wichita for several years.
To honor his request, cremation is planned. Services will take place at 11:00am Friday, September 12, 2025 at Parker Price & Davidson Funeral Home, with a visitation the hour prior and the services will be livestreamed here on his obituary page. Inurnment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date.
