Melvin Lee Johnson

Melvin Lee Johnson, age 88 ,of Topeka, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Legacy on 10 ^th .  Melvin was born August 2, 1932 in Topeka the son of Clarence and Louise Johnson.  He graduated from Topeka High School and attended Washburn University.  He served in the U.S. Army.  Melvin owned and operated a carpet shop in Lawrence.  He also owned a flower shop in Topeka.  Later in life, Melvin built his own airplane and became a pilot.  He was a member of the BUMS Club in Topeka, a pilot group that met at Billard Airport in Topeka.  Melvin was an avid reader.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Leavenworth National Cemetery with the Army Military Honor Guard.  He will lie in state Tuesday from noon – 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  davidsonfuneral.com.
