Melvin Jay Frickey, 87, of Hoyt, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026.

He was born April 22, 1939, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Raymond and Ruth (Huntley) Frickey. Melvin graduated from Highland Park High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Army. He enjoyed telling stories about his youth and time in the Army.

Melvin married Marcella Kay Humble on June 2, 1962 in Topeka, KS. To their union in marriage, they welcomed four children, David, Donna, Melissa and Jason.

Melvin was employed by Adams Business Forms for 32 years. He enjoyed attending the retirement dinners.

His all-time favorite thing to do was cheer on his grandchildren at their sporting events and spending time with them. Melvin was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed going fishing and working on cars. He was a supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Melvin would spend his free time talking on the CB radio. He loved his dogs, Chicco and Raffey.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Marcella Kay Frickey; children, David (Denise) Frickey, Donna (Bryan) Ribelin, Melissa (Jim) Area and Jason (Jenni) Frickey; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Carroll Frickey, Lois Meggison, Clarence Frickey, Dorothy Frickey and Charlotte Winney.

A memorial visitation will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Parker Price and Davidson Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, please check back for service details. In his honor, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or to Faith Family Life Centre, 3710 NW Topeka Blvd., Topeka, KS 66617.
