Mary Jo Hardman, 91, of Silver Lake, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born August 19, 1935 in Creston, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Edith (Feeback) Spurr.
Mary graduated from Creston High School in 1953. She spent her early years in Creston and moved to Silver Lake in 1970 where she stayed at home raising her children. Never missing their activities, always their biggest fan. Later she worked for the Silver Lake Senior Citizens with Meals on Wheels for over 21 years. She was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women. Mary loved baking, especially her cinnamon rolls, sewing, embroidering, and working puzzles.
Survivors include three children, Troy (JoAnn) Hardman of Valley, Nebraska, Devin (Kim) Hardman of Olathe, Kansas, Brenda Ackerly of Silver Lake, Kansas, seven grandchildren, Tyler (Chasity) Hardman, Ryan Hardman, Camron Hardman, Brecklyn Hardman, Kyle (Myah) Frick, Breanna Ackerly, Morgan Jo Ackerly, and great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Kynlee Hardman, Finn Frick and Rory Frick due in November.
Mary was preceded in death by her eleven siblings.
A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2026 at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606 or to the Silver Lake United Methodist Church, 204 Madore St., Silver Lake, Kansas 66539.
