Marshall was born on June 21, 1939 on one of the hottest and longest days in1939. Marshall passed away peacefully surrounded by all his loving family members on May 23, 2026. Marshall was born to James Gordon and Mary Pauline (Mongold) McLin in Grove, Kansas.
Marshall was preceded in death by his Parents James Gordon and Mary Pauline (Mongold) and Grandson Colton (McLin) Uzzell.
Marshall attended Silver Lake High School graduating in 1957. He attended Washburn University, playing Baseball in the spring of 1958 for the Ichabods. After attending Washburn University, He began working for GoodYear Tire & Rubber Company after retiring after 38 years of service. While working at GoodYear, he was a proud Union Member of Local 307 United Steel Workers in Topeka, Kansas.
He served with the U.S. Army National Guard before receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army National Guard. He was a proud serving member of Silver Lake American Legion Post 160 for over 52 years.
Marshall married Mary Alice (Shields) on August 29, 1965, and have been happily married for over 60 years. Together they had 2 children, Denise (Curt) Epperson and Michael (Lyndsee) McLin. He has 5 Grandchildren Shaley (Brad) Long, Shelbie Epperson, Spc. Aiden McLin, Carys McLin and Quentin (McLin) Uzzell; and 5 Great Grandchildren, Keegan and Braxton Long, Wyatt and Kinsley Epperson.
His hobbies, began in his early years Bowling at Sunflower, Southwest Bowl and continued through 2023 at West Ridge Lanes, where he still served many of the Senior Bowlers as their coach. He was a proud member of the Topeka USBC and Kansas State Bowling USBC Hall of Fame, where he served both organizations as President and other positions.
Marshall later started a small business in the Silver Lake Community in 1976 called Reindeer Forest Christmas Tree Farm, opening for business in 1985 and remaining open through 2015. Along with his hobby of the Christmas Tree Farm, he enjoyed coaching starting with American Legion Baseball for Post 400 in Topeka and post 160 in Silver Lake with the late Don Kruger. Marshall went on to coach his children in Softball, Baseball, Football and Bowling throughout the years, his teams won numerous local and state Championships in Baseball, Softball and Bowling. In his retired years he found love at the Drag Strip with Curt, Shaley, Shelbie racing in the NHRA events where they also won multiple Championships. Marshall always enjoyed the Casino and the slot Machines on Tuesday’s and Thursdays at Prairie Band Casino with Mary and his weekly Tuesday trips with Wyatt.
In Lieu of Flowers his family is requesting that Memorial Contributions be made to Silver Lake American Legion Post 160 (405 E. Lake St., Silver Lake, Ks 66539) as requested by Marshall and his family.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Parker-Price & Davidson, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service.Burial will be at a later date at Wamego Cemetery.
