Mark A. Cassella, 63, of Topeka passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2026 with his wife by his side. Mark was born on November 30, 1962, in Leavenworth, Kansas, the youngest child of Rowland Cassella, Jr. and Barbara (Read) Cassella. Throughout his childhood his father’s profession took the family to live in 7 states, returning to Kansas during Mark’s high school years where he graduated from Leavenworth High School.
He went on to trade school to be an electrician but changed his career to retail store management starting with a grocery store in Atchison, Kansas then to several other retail businesses throughout his career.
While attending a New Year’s Eve celebration he met the love of his life, Bonny Rygaard. They married a year and a half later, on September 1, 1990.
Although he lived in town, he enjoyed the great outdoors spending lots of time at his parents and in-laws in the country. Weekends with his wife and daughter were spent camping, fishing, deer hunting, boating, riding ATVs, sharing laughs with nieces and nephews, and spending time with family. At home he was always busy with some project - building decks, creating helpful gadgets around the house, being Mr. Fix-It, and tinkering in the yard to come up with more ideas for new projects.
He is survived by his wife, Bonny, of the home, daughter Molly Tyree, son-in-law Justin, grandkids, Jordan, Joel, Madison, and Jay, of Huntsville, AL, sisters Barbie Baumgartner (Steve) of Eau Claire, WI and Karen Parker (John) of Leavenworth, KS, and brother Doug Cassella, of Lansing, KS, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved dog, Rigby, father-in-law, Wayne Rygaard, and bother-in-laws, Mark Rygaard and Kevin Rygaard.
