Maggie S. Jones-Degener

Maggie Sue Jones Degener, 90, of Topeka passed away on January 28, 2026. She was born January 11, 1936, at Greenway, Arkansas the daughter of John and Clara E. (Vaughn) Gettings. She moved to Topeka from Emporia in 1980. She worked at Stormont-Vail prior to retiring.

She was married to Marion Jones at Piggott, Arkansas on September 1, 1950. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2010. She later married Wellington “Paul” Degener in Topeka on December 15, 2012. Wellington passed away on September 9, 2020.

She is survived by her children, Thomas L. Jones and wife Rhonda of Biloxi MS, Sonia Lawrence and Eric of Perry, Kansas, Paul “Pad” Degener and Rose Degener of Yulee, Florida; her siblings, Clara June Neeley of Flippin, Arkansas and JD Gettings of Splendora, Texas; grandchildren Skyler, Jade, Caleb, Danielle and Anna; great grandchildren, Bennett, Sadie, Laney, Alexander, John and Mary.

She was preceded in death by her son David Jones; siblings, Melvin, Welburn, Narine, Christine, Lorene, Alice, Charles, Kathryn, Lavelle, Betty and Martha.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm on Sunday afternoon, Feb 1, 2026, at Parker-Price and Davidson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at the funeral home on Monday, February 2, 2026. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery at Perry. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
