Leslie "Wayne" Shrimplin, 86, of Topeka, passed away on November 5, 2021 at McCrite Plaza.
He was born on January 10, 1935 to John T. and Naomi (Guinn) Shrimplin in McLouth, KS. He was raised by Ernest and Naomi (Guinn) Kingsley in Oskaloosa, Kansas.
Wayne graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1954. After graduation, he joined the United States Army, and honorably served for four years before being discharged.
He worked for Famous Brands Liquor Wholesale for many years before starting at Flemming's GMD. Wayne as a warehouseman for 25 years before retiring.
On September 6, 1958, he married Margaret M. Shrimplin (Fulton) in Topeka.
Wayne and his wife were members of Northland Christian Church in Topeka. He was an avid flower gardener. Wayne enjoyed sprucing up his backyard with a fish pond and flowers. He loved to fish and be outdoors.
Wayne loved to be around his family and to spoil all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leslie is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; children, Richard (Robin) Shrimplin, Deann (Keith) Hetrick, Larry Shrimplin, and Sheila (Jeff) Spangler; sister, Nancy (Wayne) Othick; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lonnie Shrimplin; his parents; and siblings, Harold "Dick" R. Shrimplin and Miriam Mize.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021, 10:00 am at Parker Price Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow starting at 11:00 am at the Parker Price Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens
