LeRoy Cornell

LeRoy C. Cornell, 88, of Topeka passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025. LeRoy was born April 28, 1937, at Hartwick, New York the son of Clyde E. and Inza E. (Whiting Cornell). His family moved to South Kortright, New York where LeRoy graduated. He served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force LeRoy was stationed at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka. During this time, he met Vera Eberhart. LeRoy and Vera chose to make Topeka their home in the Oakland neighborhood of Topeka and LeRoy never left. He was the manager for the Topeka City Employee’s Credit Union and a board member for the credit union prior to retiring.

He enjoyed golf and woodworking. He had been a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. LeRoy was an active member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church.

He was married on February 12, 1961, in Topeka to Vera Eberhart. Vera preceded him in death on April 25, 2015.

He is survived by his three daughters, Ruth Von Stiers and husband Bruce of Topeka, Mary Cornell of Wichita, Kansas and Martha Blankenship and husband Greg of Chetopa, Kansas; grandchildren, Brian Cornell (Carrie), Joshua Von Stiers (Kristen Bracker), Ira Blankenship, Ariellel Blankenship, Yosiah Blankenship; great grandchildren, Brexton Cornell and Madeline Cornell and his nieces and nephews.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Vera, son Mark E. Cornell and grandson, Christopher.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday December 15, 2025, at Parker-Price and Davidson Cremations and Funerals, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, Kansas 66608. On Tuesday morning, December 16, 2025, funeral services for LeRoy will be held at Parker-Price and Davidson beginning at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
