Laurence Eugene "Skip" Ellis, 76, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at The University of Kansas- St. Francis Campus in Topeka. He was born September 8, 1945. The son of Laurence Eugene and Crilla Beth (Davis) Ellis, Sr.
Skip graduated from Highland Park High School in 1963 and then earned a Bachelor's Degree in Voice and Music Education from Washburn University. Him and his Wife Diane went to Michigan, and during that time Skip served as a Music Director at Camp Barakel Bible Camp. Skip was a Pastor for the Bible Doctrine Chapel in Topeka for over 15 years. He was a Music Director and Voice Instructor at Topeka Civic Theatre. Skip was a costume designer for several years, he also was an actor and directed many shows. He was a member of Topeka Bible Church.
Skip was an avid carpenter and loved to build. He had a passion for vegetable gardening and he enjoyed sharing what he grew with his neighborhood. Skip also loved to fish and be outside.
Skip is survived by his loving Wife, Diane; Children, Kim (Paul) Fraenza and Mike Ellis; Sister, Jackie Weaver; Grandchildren, Zechariah Fraenza, Elyse Fraenza, Rowan Fraenza, and Oskar Fraenza.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, 10:00 am at the Topeka Bible Church, in Topeka.
Graveside Service will take place at Havensville Cemetery at a later date.
