Kay Lynn Fiebig (Crider) passed away on June 18, 2025. She was born on January 23, 1952, in Enid, Oklahoma to John and Mary Lou Crider of Lamont, Oklahoma. She graduated from Lamont High School in 1970 and took additional classes at Central States Normal School, in Edmond, OK. She married Doug Fiebig, October 19, 1985, and moved to Topeka, KS. Kay retired from a long career as a Warehouse Accounting Clerk with Payless Shoe Corporation in 2013 and worked 20 years as the Office Manager and Co-Owner with the family business, D & K Trucking in Topeka, KS.
As a young child, growing up in Lamont, she remembered fondly the days sitting on her father’s lap as he drove the tractor or loading up the family car with cold fired chicken, after church, before heading to Salt Fork Lake. As Kay grew so too did the bond between her and her mother. This bond would grow and continue throughout their lives. The pair spoke on the phone almost every night and many weekends were spent visiting and shopping.
While not know as a risk taker, Kay loved traveling, dancing, watching Kansas State and Oklahoma State Football, and water skiing. She is famous for a notable moment when, as a young child, she rode on her father’s shoulders as he water skied. Her greatest adventure was her family, who she, loved to dote on, including making her famous fried chicken, cobblers, and of course custard. She enjoyed spending time boating at the lake with family and friends and teaching them to water ski and hoping they were safe after a tubing incident.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Lou Crider, and her brother Robert (Dick) Crider.
Kay is survived by her husband Doug Fiebig, son Nathan McAlister and his wife Kim of Topeka, a Stepson Dusty Fiebig and his wife Jennifer of St. Joseph, MO, a brother Duane Crider and his wife Jan of Seattle, WA, and grandchildren, Noah McAlister, Christian McAlister, Collins Fiebig, Brecken Fiebig, Eli Fiebig, and Mackenzie Fiebig, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Kay was a kind and giving person who was always ready to support others. Her love and affection will be greatly missed.
