Kathleen "Kat" Hayes

April 29, 1985 — May 12, 2025

Topeka, Kansas

Kat Hayes, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, left this world on May 12, 2025, in her hometown of Topeka, Kansas. Born on April 29, 1985, Kat blossomed from a spirited child into a remarkable woman whose humor, love, and passion for life left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

A proud graduate of Shawnee Heights High School, Kat possessed a personality as vibrant as her ever-changing hair and style. Known for her funny, stubborn, and sassy demeanor, she often brightened the lives of those around her with her quick wit and infectious laughter. To her family, she was the bossy big sister, the loving daughter, and the doting mother who cherished every moment spent with her children—Kiarra, Kaleah, Kamilla and Vincent. Their bond, especially her cherished chats with daughters, was a testament to the warmth and joy she brought into their lives.

Kat had a unique way of engaging with the world. She found solace in cooking, the laughter shared while watching her favorite show, Impractical Jokers, and the thrill of tattooing. A true lover of life, she relished trying new things, and her big heart welcomed everyone into her life. Whether it was sharing her love for delicious food or spending gentle hours outdoors, she left a legacy of love that will resonate for years to come.

She was a devoted daughter to Steve Hayes and step mother, Janet Hayes, who remains, along with her siblings Kevin, Emily, Leota, Curtis, Hannah, Grant, and Taylor. The sisterly bonds forged over the years form a tapestry of warm memories, laughter, and sometimes mischief—which will be cherished forever. None could replace the love she held for her late mother, Trudy Wunder, and her affectionate presence marked by her other late mother, Jackie Gibson-Buffet, fondly known as "Ms. Johnnie." These women influenced her life immeasurably and she carried their lessons with her throughout her journey.

Kat's friendship with her best friend, Desiree Brown, will be remembered for its depth and sincerity, marked by enchanting conversations and heartfelt support. Together, they navigated the ups and downs of life, crafting memories that filled their hearts with joy and laughter.

As we remember Kat Hayes, we celebrate not only the spirit of a woman whose laughter echoed through her community but also a mother whose love was a beacon for her daughters. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will carry her memory forward in their stories, smiles, and the love they share.

Cremation is planned. Private Services will be held.
