Karla J. Cain, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in her hometown of Topeka, Kansas, with her devoted husband Larry by her side. Born on March 16, 1963, Karla was a vibrant spirit who brought joy to the lives of those who knew her, and she leaves behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.

Karla’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with her dedication to family and her career. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for several years, showcasing her nurturing nature and unwavering commitment to helping others. Her journey included a stint working at Walmart, but the majority of her life was spent as a homemaker, creating a warm and inviting haven for her family. Those who knew Karla understood that her true vocation was in raising her children and caring for her grandchildren. She became a mother figure not just to her own kids but to their friends as well, embodying a spirit of acceptance and love.

Karla was known for her realness; she was unapologetically herself. A woman of strength and stubbornness, she was fiercely loyal to those she loved. Her nurturing spirit shone through in everything she did—whether it was tending to her beloved dog Jewlz, riding motorcycles with her husband Larry, or organizing unforgettable Thanksgiving dinners. Many will remember her turkey, which was always tender and flavorful, rightfully earning her praise as the best cook in the family. Karla had a remarkable ability to make every meal a joyous occasion, surrounded by her family and filled with laughter.

Music was another fundamental part of Karla's life; she had a soft spot for country tunes and especially enjoyed Kid Rock. Her love of music often filled the home, mingling perfectly with the laughter and warmth of cherished family gatherings. Above all, her partnership with Larry was a true testament to love and friendship—the two were more than spouses; they were best friends, sharing life together as companions on their journey.

Karla's departure leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of her loved ones, but her spirit will continue to resonate in the stories shared among her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Larry Cain, and their children: Michael (Lindsey Allen) Cain and Jamie (Fred Garst) Cain. Karla cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren: Phillip, Michael II, Nicole, Danny, Jaymes, Davin, Mikaela, and Tim. She is also remembered by her siblings, Joe Singleton, Terry Wagner, and Sherry Ortega, each of whom carries the memories of their time together.

Karla was preceded in death by her father, James Emery Newsome, her mother, Virginia Mae Swafford, her brother Larry Newsome, and her sister Doris Singleton. Their memory lives on through Karla's legacy, as she embodied the values of love, loyalty, and laughter, shaping generations to come.

As we bid farewell to Karla J. Cain, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life characterized by unconditional love, humor, and compassion. A memorial service to honor her memory will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 7, 2026, at Parker-Price & Davidson in Topeka, Kansas.
