Judy L. Brady, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. Born in Kinsley, Kansas, on April 2, 1937, Judy's radiant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She grew up surrounded by the love of her parents, Leo and Geneva Copp, and was influenced by the warm values instilled in her.
Judy was not only a dedicated family woman but also a remarkable professional. After completing her education at Kinsley High School in 1955 and graduating from Kansas University in 1960 as a Registered Pharmacist, she dedicated many years to the health and well-being of her community. She worked at Grady Memorial in Atlanta, Georgia, before returning to Kansas, where she left her mark at Miller Pharmacy and then served as Pharmacy Manager at Memorial Hospital in Manhattan. Most notably, Judy spent 19 years as Pharmacy Manager at Dillons, where she became a beloved figure known for her sweet, kind, caring, and nurturing demeanor.
Her devotion extended beyond work; she was an active member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. For several years, she served as the President of the United Methodist Women (UMW) and was deeply involved in church activities, including serving on the library committee.
Judy’s interests were varied and fulfilling. She had a passion for reading and shared countless stories with those around her. Her love for travel was evident during the five years she spent wandering the roads in an RV with her husband, Mark. Cruising the open water brought her immense joy, as did her penchant for cooking and needlework, passions that sadly came to a halt when her eyesight failed. Above all, Judy absolutely adored her dachshunds, who were a constant source of companionship and joy.
Judy is survived by her children, Laureen Bagley and Kelly Hearn, as well as her beloved grandchildren, who inspired pride and happiness in her: Kelly, Ashly, Brittoney, Shannon, Lindsey, Charlotte, Adam, and Chas. The joy of her great-grandchildren, Kori, Kennedy, Jennifer, Finnley, William, Katherine, Teddy, Ellawyn, and Laralee, filled her heart with warmth and happiness in her later years.
She is preceded in death by her son, Hollie W. Hearn, whose absence leaves a profound void, along with her three sisters, Denise and two unnamed sisters.
Her legacy of kindness, love, and dignity will resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. A visitation to honor Judy’s life will take place on August 2, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Highland Park United Methodist Church in Topeka.
As we remember Judy L. Brady, let us carry forward her spirit of compassion, her dedication to family and community, and her love for life’s simple joys. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
