Joan Eileen (Servaes) Ragsdale, 79, passed away surrounded by family late March 25, 2026 in Topeka, Kansas. Born on June 29, 1946 in Atchison, Kansas to Andy and Florence (VanHorn) Servaes, Joan was a mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She married Larry Dean Ragsdale on October 15, 1971 in Topeka, KS and they had two kids together.
A graduate of Mount St. Scholastica Academy, Joan spent more than 30 years as a supervisor at Security Benefit in Topeka, KS. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Joan loved spending time with her family. She could often be found baking banana bread for her grandchildren and was a wonderful home cook. Joan also enjoyed playing slots at the casino and traveling with her sisters.
Joan was passionate about her family and loved them deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Nichole (Jim) Oathout, and her son, Michael Ragsdale, both of Topeka, KS; seven grandchildren, Maddie, Zoe, Kelsie, Katie, Reagan, Kennedy, and Lincoln; one sister, Dorothy Lee of Washington; three brothers, Larry, Phil, and LeRoy Servaes of Atchison, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dean Ragsdale; her parents; her sisters, Donna Urban, Mary Ann Kahling, Janet Lee, Carol Noll, and Rita Rookstool; and her brothers Gene, Richard, and Louis Servaes.
Services will be held Friday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m., following a visitation at 9:00 a.m., at Jefferson Assembly of God in Meriden, Kansas. She will be laid to rest at Prairie Home Cemetery with her husband, Larry.
