Joan L. Garrison

Joan L. Garrison, 94, of Topeka passed away on Wednesday, April 15,2026. She was born July 27, 1931 at Rossville the daughter of Kermit L. and Mary Martha Loveland Patton. She graduated from Seaman High School in 1949 and later attended Clarks Business College.

During her career she was a Driver’s License Examiner for the State of Kansas and had worked at Macy’s Department Store. She had been a member of Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School. She was also a Den Mother in Cub Scouts.

She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit all 50 states during her lifetime.

About ten years ago she returned to her hometown of Topeka after spending the prior 41 years in Florida.

Joan was married to Alvin Greeson. They later divorced. She later married Charles D. Garrison and they were able to enjoy 30 years together before his passing in 2009.

She is survived by her sons, Michael K. Greeson and wife Jill of Topeka and Craig D. Greeson of Tecumseh; her brother, Nolan K. Patton and wife Betty of Topeka; six grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Alvin O. Greeson IV of Gig Harbor, Washington who passed away in 2023.

Graveside service and interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.
