Jerald B. McCarter, age 82, of Auburn, KS passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his home in Auburn. Jerald was born August 7, 1938 in Rossville, KS the son of Arthur Marshall and Monica (Hurla) McCarter. Jerry graduated from Auburn High School in 1956. From 1956 to 1962, he served in the Army National Guard. He worked at Dupont/Flexel/UCB for 36 years, in coating and maintenance until retirement. After retirement, he worked at Shawnee County Maintenance and USD 437. He was a member of Auburn Lion’s Club and attended Fellowship Christian Church. He married Beverly Ann (Brobst) on August 29, 1958 in Auburn. She preceded him in death May 26, 2017 after 58 years of marriage. Jerald was preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Bill, a sister, Mary and his wife, Beverly. He is survived by his three children, Kevin (Sharon) and Brad (Lori) and Cynthia Kurtz, as well as 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Jim (Marloyane), Joe (Darlene), Mike and Charlie (Liz) and two sisters, Delores (Ed) Weekley and Anna Mae (Steve) Lucas. Jerry loved many things: his children and grandchildren, KSU football, horses, and western movies, especially John Wayne.
Memorial services will be Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Living Water Evangelical Free Church, 13960 Hwy K-92, Oskaloosa, KS. Memorial contributions can be made to the Heart of America Chapter, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, Mo 63132. In note section, please indicate in memory of Jerald McCarter, Alzheimer’s Research.
