Jeffrey Charles Beam

Jeffrey Charles Beam was born to Larry and Beverly (Schumann) Beam on September 16, 1967, in Topeka, Kansas, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He passed away at his home in Topeka on July 14, 2026. 

Jeff was a proud graduate of Seaman High School's Class of 1986. He excelled in football, track and field, and as a tenor saxophonist in the school's jazz ensemble. 

After attending Butler County Community College, Jeff enlisted in the Kansas Army National Guard, which led to 28 years of military service. He retired with the rank of First Sergeant in 2018. His distinguished career included a combat tour in Iraq and a deployment to Djibouti, Africa. Following his retirement from the military, Jeff continued his education, proudly earning a college degree. He later liked to say his true specialty was a "Master's in BBQ." 

Known for his intelligence, generous heart, and ability to make friends wherever he went, Jeff left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. 

In 2001, Jeff and Jennifer Hurley were married and welcomed two children, Olivia and Porter. Jeff had many passions in life, from BBQ and football to fishing and hunting, but nothing brought him greater pride than being a father and, most recently, a grandfather. He adored his granddaughter, Scottie, and cherished the time they shared together. The love, pride, and devotion he had for his family will remain one of his most enduring legacies. 

Jeff is survived by his parents, Larry and Beverly Beam of Topeka, Kansas; his brother, Jared (Debbie) Beam of Topeka, Kansas; his children, Olivia Paige Beam of Shawnee, Kansas, and Porter Owen Beam, stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps in Okinawa, Japan; his granddaughter, Scottie Cecilia Kay Boone of Shawnee, Kansas; his niece, Teghan Beam of Raytown, Missouri; along with many other beloved family members, and friends. 

A private service with military honors will be held at Parker-Price Chapel in Topeka. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held later this year following the return of his son, Porter, from his overseas military deployment.
