Jeanetta Sue (Agan) Boughn, a beloved figure in the lives of many, passed away on November 14, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, at Aldersgate Memory Care, at the age of 81. She was born on March 30, 1944, in Knoxville, Iowa, and raised in the Columbia area, where her deep roots and love for family were sown.

Sue's career was as diverse as it was fulfilling. Her journey began at Dairy Queen in Knoxville, where she caught the eye of her future husband, Jim Boughn, whom she married on December 3, 1965, in her hometown. Throughout her life, she wore many hats — from working at the courthouse in Knoxville to serving the community through the Chamber of Commerce while Jim was deployed. The military eventually took them to Topeka, Kansas, in 1967, where she continued to contribute her talents at various establishments, including The Pelletier's Department Store, Mr. G's Bookstore and USD 345.

While she excelled in her career, Sue’s true passion lay in her family. A devoted mother, she lovingly raised her two daughters, Christine and Julene (Jared) Soppe, instilling in them values that would resonate throughout their lives. Her role as a grandmother was perhaps her proudest achievement, and her grandchildren—Bodie Hischke, Caroline Soppe, Abagail Soppe, and Malorie Soppe—brought her immense joy. Jeanetta also embraced her honorary grandchildren, Treyton and Loren Gros, with open arms, making sure they always felt like part of her family. She also leaves behind her sister Debbie Rowley.

Sue’s personality was reserved, yet a spark would ignite when she was surrounded by her family, especially her cherished sisters and her mother. She was a woman of many interests and hobbies, each reflecting her joyful spirit. Whether it was riding on the back of a motorcycle with Jim or cruising in their classic 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria, Sue found happiness in adventure. She enjoyed camping trips and relished the simple pleasure of canning and pickling, crafting delightful treats for her loved ones. Each holiday season, she carefully selected Christmas ornaments for nieces and nephews, making sure that each one had their own unique decoration—a small tradition that spoke volumes about her thoughtfulness and love.

Sue had a special fondness for returning to Iowa, where she cherished the moments spent with family and friends, often indulging in a delicious Smokey Row Shake.

Sue joins in eternal rest her father, Don Agan; her mother, Janice (Blackman) Stanton; her beloved stillborn daughter; and her sister, Nancy Stanton. Their memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In her passing, Sue leaves behind not just a grieving husband, Jim, but a family bound by the love and lessons she imparted. Christine and Julene, along with her adoring grandchildren and honorary grandchildren, will carry her spirit with them, fostering the values she held dear. As they remember her laughter, generous heart, and the joy she found in family, Sue's legacy will undoubtedly continue to shine brightly in their lives.

Cremation is planned. A Celebration of her life is pending at this time at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
