Jean E. Freed

Jean Elizabeth Freed, 85, of Topeka, passed away on March 31, 2026.

She was born on November 14, 1940, in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, the daughter of Edward and Thelma (Shinn) Driscoll. Jean was raised in New Jersey, primarily in Tuckerton, and later moved to the Topeka area in 1984.

Jean worked briefly at KNI but was most proud of her role as a homemaker. She found great joy in caring for her home and yard. She loved mowing, gardening, and decorating her yard for every season. Jean also enjoyed walking her beloved dog, taking occasional trips to the casino, and watching KU basketball.

She was united in marriage to Dennis Freed on March 17, 1995, in Topeka. Dennis preceded her in death on July 28, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Driscoll, on October 11, 1987.

Jean is survived by her children, Teresa Deal of Florida, Tracy Deal of Florida, Pam Deal of North Carolina, Keith Wainwright of Kansas (Maureen), and Phil Wainwright (Candice) of Kansas; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Parker-Price & Davidson Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
