Janet M. Stevenson

Janet Stevenson, of Topeka, passed away on August 24, 2026. She was born March 14, 1962, to Paul J. and Mary Lou Scucchi Carney.

Janet was raised in Topeka, attended Faith Lutheran Church while growing up and graduated from Washburn Rural High School with the class of 1980. She later completed her schooling at Washburn Tech as a Medical Transcriptionist.

Janet loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, baking, Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, and cheering on the Chiefs. She especially adored her two dogs, Harley and Tiny. Janet had a big heart and found great joy and fulfillment in helping and supporting others. She was always willing to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or simply be there for the people she loved. She was a breast cancer survivor.

Janet was married to Craig Stevenson May 20, 2009 in Topeka.

Survivors include husband, Craig Stevenson of Topeka; children, Chris Reeb (Christina), Johnny Whitaker (Kasey), Amy Whitaker, William Whitaker (Delaney, fiancée) Luke Stevenson (Amanda); grandchildren, Amelia Reeb, Dominic Reeb, J.C. Whitaker, Oakley Whitaker, Avery Whitaker, Jayce Whitaker, Gabbi Whitaker; and her beloved dogs, Harley Jo, Tiny Bear.

She is also survived by her siblings, Steven Carney (Teresa), Sharon, Bush (Daniel), John Carney, Daryl Carney (Brenda); brother in law, Bill Arnold; mother-in-law, Wilma Stevenson; sisters-in-law Vicki Withrow (Andy), Erica McGill (Mike); and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Lou; sister, Diana Arnold; sister-in-law, Jennifer Carney; brother-in-law Bill Haigh; and her father-in-law, Orval Stevenson.

Cremation is planned. Parker-Price and Davidson is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to help with funeral expenses and to support the family during this difficult time.
