Jackie Ray Franklin, affectionately known as "Uncle Jack," was born on October 20, 1952, in Topeka, Kansas. On July 4, 2025, he left this world, leaving behind a legacy defined by kindness, warmth, and an extraordinary spirit that touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Jack was a unique individual whose pure, childlike spirit was a source of joy to all. His welcoming nature and infectious smile made gatherings a little brighter and memories a little warmer. He had a profound love for family, cherishing every moment spent with loved ones. He proudly celebrated the joys and milestones of his family, and they will forever hold dear the special times shared with him.
With a passion for entertainment, Jack had an eclectic taste in television and movies. His interests spanned from silent films and westerns to captivating documentaries. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, enjoying the camaraderie and excitement that came with each game. Jack's passion for watching TV and movies often became a delightful experience shared among family and friends, who delighted in his company.
He leaves a significant hole in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed. Uncle Jack's spirit of friendship will continue to resonate within the fond memories of those he touched.
Jack is survived by his beloved family: his nephews, Todd (Tia) Franklin, Lance Franklin, Vaughn Schnegelsiepen, and Fernando Schnegelsiepen; his cherished niece, Melissa Tompkins; as well as numerous great-nephews and great-nieces, including Dorian Castaneda, Todd Franklin Jr, Tremel Franklin, David Franklin, Zachary Tompkins, and Saleythean Franklin, Jonathan Sanders, and Mckenzie Franklin and sister in law, Linda Franklin. He also leaves behind numerous extended family.
He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Harley Ray Franklin and Ruby Jewel (Morgan) Franklin; his twin sister, Janie (Franklin) Schnegelsiepen; his sisters, Emma (Franklin) Gruenig and Ilena Franklin; and his brothers, Jimmie Franklin, Tommy Franklin, and Harley Franklin Jr.
A visitation to honor Uncle Jack will be held on July 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Both services will take place at Parker-Price & Davidson, located at 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, Kansas, 66608. Burial to follow at Rochester Cemetery.
In celebrating the life of Jackie Franklin, we remember not just his uniqueness but the love and warmth he continually extended to those around him. His memory will forever remain a cherished part of the lives he enriched.
