Grace S. Caps

Grace S. Caps of Tullahoma, Tennessee, formerly of Meriden, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, April 11th, 2026 at Morning Pointe of Tullahoma at the age of 106.

Mrs. Caps was born in Meriden, KS to the late Arthur and Mary Sechrist Schroetter. During her life, Grace was a member of Tullahoma First Methodist Church, and worked with the War Price Patrol Board. After their retirement, Grace and her husband, James began to travel, and eventually visited all 50 states, and many continents.

On Grace’s 100th birthday on January 9th, 2019 the Mayor of Tullahoma proclaimed the day “Grace Caps Day”.

In addition to her parents. Mrs. Caps was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Caps; and one sister, Wilma Dresner.

She is survived by her son, James W. Caps, Jr.; daughter, Sharon Kaczorek (Ted); two grandchildren, Andrew Kaczorek (Nicole), and Marie Kaczorek; and one great-granddaughter, Elise.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2026 at Meriden Cemetery, Meriden, Kansas, her original hometown.
