Gene Ostrander, 89, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021.
He was born February 11, 1932, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Edward and Blanche (Jackson) Ostrander. He received his High School Diploma from Seaman High School.
He was very talented when it came to carpentry. He owned his own cabinet making shop for over 30 years.
Gene loved all sports, his favorite was baseball. He treasured watching his grandchildren play ball.
He cherished family get togethers and enjoyed their company when they were all together. On Sunday's when the children were younger, they would go for drives. No one exactly knew where they were going, but they would always find a good place to eat for lunch before heading home.
He had a laugh to remember. His coworkers gave him the nick name "Foggy". He absolutely adored his dogs.
Gene married Beverly Washburn on January 14, 1956 in Topeka, Kansas. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2016.
Survivors include his children, Becky (John) A. Eck, Robert "Bob" E Ostrander, Deanna (Doug) K Willard, and Janell (Brian) L. Holmes; brother, Ivan Ostrander; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings, Charles Ostrander, Marie Rogers, Donald Ostrander, John Ostrander, William Ostrander, Eldon Ostrander, Everett L. Ostrander, Arlene Ostrander, and Thelma Dister and his great-granddaughter, Lillie.
Cremation is planned and a private Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
