Gail Nicolay Albright, 83, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on February 3, 1942, in Rural Hanford, California, Gail lived a life marked by devotion to her family, friends and faith.
A graduate of Highland Park High School, Gail went on to build a long and dedicated career with Sears Roebuck & Company. She worked primarily in the cosmetics and jewelry departments, where her warmth and authenticity left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike.
Gail was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her spiritual journey was deeply meaningful to her. She was married to her beloved husband and very best friend, Charles Albright on April 9, 1988 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and then served a mission with him working in the Bishop's Storehouse in Kansas City. Her commitment to her faith extended into every aspect of her life—she taught children at church with joy and purpose and spent countless hours preparing her lessons. She lived each day guided by kindness and unconditional love.
Family was at the heart of everything Gail did. She loved her family fully and completely, attending countless games, concerts, musical programs, awards ceremonies, Grandparents’ Days, wrestling and gymnastics meets, church talks, and weddings. She traveled across the country to visit her children and grandchildren. Her home was the gathering place for many years. We all enjoyed her warm and beautiful home and wonderful meals. She was a great cook! Her home was a haven for her family and friends. There is nothing she enjoyed more than family get togethers to celebrate holidays and birthdays and any other event that brought us together. Despite how she was feeling, she was always there for her family. She was our greatest cheerleader and she made each person feel seen and cherished.
Gail found joy in journaling, quilting, reading, singing and enjoying music, canning vegetables from Charles' beautiful garden. She loved flowers and spending time on their front porch, enjoying nature. She also loved being with their cherished dogs, Nikki, Jessie and Maggie.
She is survived by her children Darla Gifford (Craig), Angie Arnow, Bobby Sparks, and Jerry Albright. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Alla Nicolay; her cherished Aunt Mildred Steinmeyer (Wandie); sister Neva Osment; and her daughter Terry Albright.
