Elisa Elaine Baker, 82, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 24th at her home in Berryton, KS.
Lisa was born July 25, 1943, to Dean and Jeraldine (Johnson) Noll in Wichita, KS. She attended Southeast High School and graduated with her degree in Education from Kansas State University after marrying the love of her life, Jerry Baker on December 26, 1964. Lisa’s passion was making a positive impact in the lives of children in her career as a teacher. She loved encouraging her elementary students to dream BIG and believe in their God given talents. She taught at Custer Hill Elementary in Fort Riley for 1 year, Riverside Elementary in Wichita for 1 year, and worked in the Shawnee Heights School District teaching 1st grade at Tecumseh North for 23 years before retiring. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and served as their Scholarship Chairman. Some of her honors include being First Runner up to the American Royal Queen, Kansas Young Mother of the Year, and a Master Teacher from Tecumseh North, and many others.
Lisa’s love for Jesus gave her the strength to overcome the health challenges she faced in her later years of life staying strong for the past 18 years until her very last breath. Lisa was able to encourage countless people to trust Jesus whatever their circumstance in life. She was often quoted as saying “Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful!” We remember Lisa for her love and kindness toward others and her ability to light up any room with her laughter and caring heart. Lisa wanted to be remembered for her faith in God, her FREE SPIRIT, and her ability to enjoy the simple things in life on the farm. She took joy in her vegetable, flower, and hasta gardens, as well as her bird sanctuary, and especially “Lake Lisa!” (The pond Jerry had excavated for his bride. It was her dream brought to life on the farm.) Lisa was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by her family and friends!
Lisa is preceded in death by her parents, Dean & Jeraldine (Johnson) Noll, her sister, Trilby and niece Tressa. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jerry of the home at Berryton; son, Tad Baker and Wife Andrea of Lenexa; daughter, Heidi Pitman and husband Rob of Berryton; and several grandchildren; Ashlyn Pitman, Jarrett (Breanne) Pitman with great grandson Beckett, Brock (Brea) Baker, Camden (with soon to be wife Ellie) Baker, Neice Erika Conard and husband Matt of Blue Springs, MO and their children MacKinzie (Joey) Gessler, Madisun (Nick) Hanlan, and Max Conard along with numerous cousins and family members!
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 5th at Fellowship Bible Church. (The church where Lisa & Jerry have attended since 2005). The service will begin at 11:00 am. There will not be a visitation or graveside service, but you can share your condolences on the Parker Price Website, www.ppdfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your own home church or to the Topeka Rescue Mission.
The service is “come as you are” – loved, valued, and accepted! Lisa wanted this service to be as cheery and bright as possible, remembering that she is with her Savior now, so please wear your favorite color or Lisa’s favorite color, purple! The service will be “Live Streamed” and recorded for those who are unable to attend in person. For Live Stream click here
