Dorothy "Dot" Cook

Dorothy "Dot" Cook was born on November 22, 1934, in Lawrence, Kansas. She lived a simple and reserved life, which she filled with love for her family. Dot passed away on October 26, 2025, in Rossville, Kansas, surrounded by her beloved family.

Dot was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her three daughters: Beverly (Gary) Schnellbacher, Sharon (Don) Holt, and Karen Randolph. Family was truly the center of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Dot was also proud of her five grandchildren eleven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Her education at Lawrence High School laid the foundation for a life focused on nurturing her loved ones. Dot had a passion for sewing, creating various items until her eyes and hands wouldn't allow her to continue. Later, she found joy in crocheting, a hobby that brought her peace and satisfaction.

Dot was preceded in death by her father, Christian Loewenstein, her mother, Nellie (Purcell) Loewenstein, her husband Edward "Ed" Cook, whom she married on September 6, 1952, and who sadly passed away on November 26, 2013. She was also preceded by her brother, Henry, and her sister, Pauline.

Celebration of Life for Dorothy will be held at Parker-Price & Davidson, 245 NW Independence Ave. in Topeka, Kansas, on November 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Private graveside service will be held at a later date. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on through her family and the countless memories they created together.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Rossville for their kindness and care they provided to Dot during her time there. All the nurses and staff were considered a part of Dot’s family.
