Dora Eleanor (Serrano) Guenther of Silver Lake, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on August 23, 1965, in Cuba, New Mexico, she was the daughter of Arsenio and Geraldine (Romero) Serrano.
Dora graduated Coronado High School in New Mexico, and went on to study Computer Science at Northern New Mexico Community College. Throughout her career, she contributed her talents as a subcontractor for the State of Kansas and Southwest Publishing. Yet perhaps her favorite job was being both a wife, and stay at home mom with her children (and her dogs!).
On June 23, 2012, Dora married with her best friend and love of her life, Chad Everett Guenther, in Topeka, Kansas. Together, they shared a life filled with love, commitment, and adventure.
In her spare time, Dora found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like spending time with her dogs, playing games on her tablet, solving puzzles, embracing the freedom of riding her Harley-Davidson alongside her husband, and spending time with family and friends, whose lives she touched deeply.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Chad Guenther; her seven children—Renee Velasquez of Colorado, Brian Velasquez and Audrey Velasquez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Audra (Luke) Wiley of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Wayne Velasquez Jr. of New Mexico, AJ Velasquez of Lawrence, Kansas, and Abriella Guenther of Silver Lake, Kansas; her brother Diego Serrano; her sister Nora; as well as eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory close to their hearts.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Arsenio and Geraldine Serrano, and her youngest brother, J.J.
A celebration of Dora’s life will be held at a future date. Details regarding the memorial service and a fund to assist with funeral expenses will be shared here. Please check back.
Dora Eleanor Guenther’s legacy of joy and love will remain within the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
