Donald L. Bartley, 87, of Hoyt, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025. He was born in Topeka the son of Kenneth and Wilma Bartley. He was raised in Highland Park and attended Belvoir Grade School, Highland Park Junior High and Highland Park High School.
Don was dedicated to taking care of his family and was a great provider for them. He often worked two jobs. He was a pressman by trade and worked at many local printing companies including Minute Man Press, General Printing, Mainline, Adams Business Forms and Allen Press in Lawrence. He lived by the belief that a simple life was a good life and instilled that into his family.
During his off-work times he pitched on slow pitch softball teams, fished, golfed, and played racquet ball at the YMCA downtown. He lived to ride, and enjoyed motorcycles immensely. He was the flat track champion, TT Scrambles in 1969 and 70. He went all over going to motorcycle races. Don was a very social and people person, exemplified by becoming a Union President at one time.
He is survived by his children which include, Terry Bartley of Topeka, Terrina Lewis in California, Dustin Bartley and Jane of Stillwell, Kansas; Amber Thornton and husband Nick of Hoyt; Jason Bartley and wife Samantha of Topeka; 12 grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a son, Darren Bartley in 2003 and his parents.
A memorial service for Don will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 beginning at 2:00 pm at Parker-Price and Davidson Cremations and Funerals. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Home Health and Hospice in Holton.
