Dick Streeter, a devoted family man, dedicated maintenance professional, and skilled craftsman, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Topeka on September 3, 1943, Dick’s life was marked by unwavering commitment to his family, community, and his many talents.

Dick graduated from Topeka High School in 1962 and furthered his education at VoTech in Topeka, specializing in mechanics—a foundation that would serve him well throughout his career. He was a proud and honorable veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He was honorably discharged on January 31, 1969, a testament to his dedication and bravery.

Throughout his working life, Dick was a consummate hard worker, recognized as a jack of all trades. He applied his mechanical skills and work ethic at several places around Topeka, including the Holiday Inn and Presbyterian Manor, as well as at United Manufacturing in Topeka. His reputation for fixing what was broken and building what was needed was well known—his resourcefulness was a gift that benefited all who knew him.

Dick’s personality was as distinctive as his skills. Though sometimes ornery, he was deeply caring and always willing to go the extra mile for those he loved. His large heart was evident not only in his dedication to family but also through his generous spirit in the community. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people—never knowing a stranger and able to engage in conversation with anyone he met.

Among his many interests, Dick cherished gardening. His green thumb yielded bountiful harvests, much of which he selflessly donated to local pantries, demonstrating his kindness and community-mindedness. Woodworking was another passion, showcasing his creativity and craftsmanship. He also enjoyed fishing, a pastime that provided both relaxation and joy. Above all, his family meant the world to him.

Dick is lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy (Boggs) Streeter, whom he married on May 30, 1965, in Topeka, Kansas; his son, Jason Streeter; his daughter, Jessie (Chris) Pulliam; his sister, Sarah “Susie” (Gary) Kenney; his brother, Kenneth Streeter; along with eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who continue to carry forward his legacy of love and resilience.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Huffman Streeter; his mother, Kathryn Mae (Ropp) Streeter; his son, Matt Streeter; and ten siblings. Their memories remain an integral part of the rich tapestry of his life.

Dick Streeter’s life was distinguished by his dedication to family, his country, and his community. His spirit, ingenuity, and genuine care for others will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
