Derek Daniel Tate

Derek D. Tate, age 61, of Topeka, passed away Monday, November 8, 2021 at his home in North Topeka following a short battle with lung cancer.  Derek was born September 17, 1960 in Topeka the son of James and Margaret (Van Hyning) Tate.  He grew up in Topeka, graduating from Seaman High School in 1978 where he played on the football team.  He worked for Shawnee County and did home construction.  He had worked for his father at Tate’s Bait when in High School.   He enjoyed fixing things.    He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret and his brother, Bradley Tate.  He is survived by his father, Jim and his wife, Geri (Anschutz) Tate of Topeka.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour before the services Tuesday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home.   Interment will follow at the Meriden Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.  davidsonfuneral.com
