Delores L. Moss

August 7, 1937 — June 16, 2025

In the early morning hours of Monday, June 16th, Delores Lee Moss passed away peacefully at Brookside Health and Rehab in Overbrook, Kansas. Those blessed to know Dee would tell you there were two things she loved more than anything else in the world: her family and the Saint Louis Cardinals baseball team. Despite spending her final years in Kansas and several years in Texas, she always considered Saint Louis her home.

Born on August 7th, 1937 in Marshall, Missouri, Dee moved with her family to Saint Louis as a young child. She embraced being a “city girl” enjoying music, swimming, and suntanning with friends. It was in Saint Louis where she met her soulmate Gail Moss. She recounted meeting Gail one night while out with friends. Instead of writing down her phone number, she made Gail memorize it in order to earn a date. (Thankfully, he had a good memory.) Delores and Gail married on November 7th, 1959 and welcomed a beautiful daughter in 1960 and a handsome son in 1967. Together they shared a life of love and happiness for over 60 years. Even when times were tough, Delores took pride in her home, her appearance, and her cooking. She was a master at turning modest ingredients into tasty dishes. Many of her recipes will live on through her grandchildren.

Delores will be remembered for her glowing smile, her warm hugs, and her keen sense of humor. She was never one to turn down a card game and frequently cleaned up at the monthly bingo event at Brookside. She was never afraid to be herself and encouraged those around her to love and enjoy life, as long as that life includes dessert. She was unabashedly sassy, stubborn, and strong.

A faithful wife, loving mother, and supportive nana, Delores was preceded in death by her sister Joyce Smith, her brother John Smith, her husband Gail Moss, and her daughter Deidre Selk. She is survived by her brothers Donald Smith and Ricky Smith, her son Bryan Moss, her grandchildren Brandon Barnett, Aislynn Milliken, Elise Bisconer, Jacqueline Moss and Julia Moss, and her great grandchild Jack Barnett.
