Delbert Clark

Delbert Raymond Clark, 97, passed away peacefully June 14, 2018 at his daughter’s home in Berryton, KS. He was born March 21, 1921 to James and Elizabeth (Portz) Clark in Meriden, KS. He graduated from Meriden High School in 1939 and on his 21st birthday joined the Navy. He served in the Pacific theatre for the remainder of World War II, after which he returned home to continue work as a custom farmer.

Delbert married Thelma (Coonse) Clark on October 5, 1952 and they remained together till her passing in January of 2011. They ran a grade-A dairy from the time they were married until 1975, first in Muscotah, then in Berryton. Delbert continued to raise beef cattle until he passed away. In addition to his farm and raising his four children, Delbert was a grassroots member of Shawnee County Farm Bureau and a volunteer for TARC services. He was an active member of the Berryton United Methodist Church. In his spare time he always enjoyed a game of pitch.

Survivors include their children, Harland Clark, Leisa Loganbill and her husband Tom of Berryton, Renae Clark Robertson and her husband Dr. Paul Jep Robertson of Arkadelphia, AR, and Clyde Clark of Topeka; grandchildren Samuel Loganbill and his wife Ellie, Miriam Wilson and her husband Greg, and Elicia Dorsett and her husband Daniel; great-grandchildren Rachel and Everett Loganbill, Charlotte Wilson and Phillip Dorsett. He is also survived by his sister in law Joan Clark.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Valley, Rollin, and Walter Clark - and his sister, Esther Lortez.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday evening, June 19th at Berryton United Methodist Church, 7010 SE Berryton Road, Berryton, Kanas.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 20th at the church.

Delbert bequeathed his body to the University of Kansas Medical School. He will be inurned later at Lynn Creek Cemetery in Berryton next to his wife. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Berryton United Methodist Church, 7010 SE Berryton Rd., Berryton, Ks 66409.
