Dee Jay Estes, 77, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in his lifelong home of Topeka, Kansas. Born on June 8, 1947, in Topeka, Dee Jay lived a life rich with passion, adventure, and an unyielding dedication to those he loved.

Dee Jay graduated from Topeka High School and pursued further education at the University of Kansas. His professional journey led him to become a Technical Draftsman for the Department of Transportation for the State of Kansas, where he served with unwavering commitment for 35 years before retiring in 2005. His contributions to the community were significant and will be remembered by many.

On April 29, 2025, Dee Jay married his longtime companion, Patsy Allen. This beautiful union was marked by love and shared memories. One of Patsy's most cherished recollections recalls their first date, where Dee Jay took her flying, letting her push the plane out of the hangar as he guided it toward the runway. This memory encapsulates the joy and thrill that defined his spirit.

Dee Jay was a man of many interests. Scuba diver and a licensed pilot, he embraced life with a sense of adventure that inspired those around him. He was a proud member of the Topeka Corvette Club and never missed an opportunity to ride his motorcycle. His enthusiasm for life and the experiences it offered was contagious, leaving an indelible mark on friends and family alike.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy Allen-Estes of Topeka; his daughter, Tammy Murray, and her husband, Mike, of Louisville, Kentucky; grandsons, Michael and Nicholas Murray and wife Brooke, both of Louisville; and two great-grandchildren, Kloei and Makenzie Murray, also of Louisville; brother-in-law Gary Allen; sister-in-law-Darla Allen-Boyer and Will Boyer and children. Dee Jay's loyal dachshund, Isabella, was a constant companion, providing him with joy and love.
