Debra "Deb" Lynn Garza

Debra "Deb" Garza, 69, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

She was born October 30, 1956, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of of Richard Gomel and Virginia (Moore) Braeuer. Deb graduated from Seaman High School and later furthered her education and earned her Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate.

She married Pedro G. Garza on March 11, 1981 in Topeka, KS.

Deb worked for the Colmery-O'Neil Veterans' Administration Medical Center for over ten years. She was a member of the Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church, of Topeka.

In her spare time, Deb enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards with her mom, Virginia. She adored her two cats, Tiger and Billy. She had an extensive elephant collection.

She leaves behind her husband, Pedro G. Garza; children, Kristina (Michael) Gutierrez and Brian Garza; one granddaughter, Audrey Gutierrez; her mother, Virginia Braeuer and brother, Richard (Mary Ann) Gomel. She was preceded in death by father and sister, Michelle Gomel.

Honoring her wishes, cremation is planned. Private family services will be held. She will be laid to rest at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka, Ks. Memorial contributions may be made to Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church.
