Carol M. Murrell, 77, of Topeka, passed away on August 16, 2021 after complications due to COVID, at Stormont Vail Hospital.
Carol was born on November 19, 1943 to Dwight and Dorothy (Seal) Butler in St. Joseph, MO.
She graduated from Central High School in St. Joe in 1961. She then graduated from cosmetology school and married David Murrell before becoming a stay at home mother. Her and David divorced years later. She went back to work as a Payroll Clerk for Payless Shoe Source for 22 years before retiring.
Carol enjoyed all things frogs. She loved to craft and specifically do needle work. Carol attended craft shows where she sold her art. She volunteered at Let's Help for several years and was also a Cuddler with Stormont Vail NICU.
She also served as a host family for several junior hockey players and college baseball players, opening her home, her heart, and her kitchen for 10 years.
Carol loved to be outside, fishing and camping. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them.
Carol is survived by her Son, Marc (Candace) Murrell; Daughter, Chari (Darin) Osterhaus; Grandchildren, Ashley (Jake) Snodgrass, Brandon Murrell, Cody Murrell, Dylan Osterhaus, Shyanne Osterhaus; and Great Granddaughter, Hadley Snodgrass; and a Parrot named Gizmo who faithfully kept her company in recent years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; One Grandson, Jaryd Osterhaus; and her Sister, Lois Nelson.
Carol will Lie In State at Parker Price Funeral Home on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The family will not be present due to COVID considerations.
Private family graveside will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at Stormont Vail Hospital.
